Sisters

I just love it when I get to photograph someone over the course of a decade or more.  Firstly, because I gain a friend.  Secondly, because I love to see how children evolve into adults...emotionally, intellectually, socially and physically.  It's a BEAUTIFUL thing to see someone BE who they are meant to be...and to discover HOW to BE.

Now Jaime (far left above) was a young dancer in Studio 149 when I first met her.  Today, she is studying culinary arts (and lucky for us, she shares her "practice creations" with my hubby and I and our 5 kids!).  : )  So, when she asked me to take pictures of her and her sisters for her mama, I very happily agreed!  And, I think they turned out SO cute!  Such pretty ladies!!!!!!!

HS Senior: Danielle

I have known Danielle's family since she and her older sister Heather were just wee little dancers in Studio 149.  Here are the 2 of them one decade ago when we first met!

What an honor to do her senior pictures and gain witness to the amazing young woman she has become!  May the great and beautiful words of St. Teresa of Avila bring you hope and courage as you continue your journey into womanhood...."Let nothing disturb you.  Let nothing frighten you.  All things are passing.  God alone is changeless.  He who has patience wants for nothing.  He who has God has all things.  God alone suffices."

Homestead High School Senior: Kiley

I've had the privilege of knowing and photographing Kiley since she was just a little girl dancing in Studio 149.  And, now...she is a gorgeous young woman entering her last year of high school.  She also now teaches dance to preschoolers through Studio 149 (she even taught my oldest daughter ballet last year, albeit briefly because my timid little 3-yr-old wasn't quite ready for the great big world of dance instruction).

Studio 149 Dance

Studio 149 is a Not-For-Profit Ballet School that serves the Fort Wayne Community, surrounding cities, and Ohio.  By providing dance education that is modern in approach, classical in technique, age appropriate and always family safe, their teachers uphold their positions as Christian role models and respect each child as a unique and beautiful gift from God.

I have had the honor of working with Studio 149 and its founder Tricia Graf since it's launch ten years ago. It has been so exciting to watch the girls grow and mature both as talented dancers and beautiful young women.

Studio 149 is a family of believers raising technically trained artists that share the Gospel through the awe inspiring gift of dance through a partner ministry with Promise Lutheran Church. I think one of the many reasons Studio 149 has been so appealing to Fort Wayne's young dancers and their families is that through community support, remarkable volunteers, faculty, and their Board of Directors, they are able to keep prices low and offer scholarships for those who are in need. Students have many opportunities to perform in Ballet's, such as Peter and the Wolf, as well as worship services and showcases.

Family Photos: Henry, Tricia and the Girls

Henry and Tricia are truly a "power couple" that I have the priveledge of knowing.  Henry is Pastor at Promise Ministries and Tricia is Director and Founder of Studio 149 Dance.  And, oddly enough...even though we are all from Fort Wayne, I have my late mother (from Detroit) to thank for the priveledge of forming a friendship with them.  You see, my mom (a former nurse) rescued Tricia from a music concert where a guy accidently stage dove onto her head.  My mom kept talking about this great girl from Fort Wayne that she met...and low and behold - we met and realized our hubbies were already connected through church youthgroup leadership activites.  What a small world!  I suppose it was fated that we meet one way or another!  : )  I am so thankful they (and their fabulous daughters) are in my life.  What an honor to photograph them!
