Homestead High School Senior: Kiley

I've had the privilege of knowing and photographing Kiley since she was just a little girl dancing in Studio 149.  And, now...she is a gorgeous young woman entering her last year of high school.  She also now teaches dance to preschoolers through Studio 149 (she even taught my oldest daughter ballet last year, albeit briefly because my timid little 3-yr-old wasn't quite ready for the great big world of dance instruction).

Enjoy these sneak peeks from her senior portriat session!

Downtown Senior Pictures: Michael

For Michael's senior pictures, we headed downtown Fort Wayne.  And, just for the fun of it (because they're part of the family too), we also brought along his two dogs!  I have to comment on how amazingly well behaved they were!  My eternal puppies NEVER would've walked leashless through the city.  You have mad training skills Michael!

Welcome our new intern!

A high school intern has just joined Shadowlands Photography for nine months of "photography boot camp" here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. "I've had a camera in my hands as long as I can remember," says Erin Butler of Concordia Lutheran High School. When she first expressed interest in photography, her parents bought her a beloved Barbie camera. She's more tech-savvy these days, thanks partly to her Photoshop-wizard father. "I am an aspiring photo-journalist and I am so excited about all that I will learn during my internship," she says.

Erin's second passion in life is riding. She has been riding horses since she was one year old at Orchard Creek Stables.

This coming June, Erin will graduate Concordia Lutheran High School, where she has taken so many photography classes that the school actually developed a double advanced photography class for her to continue her pursuits of mastering photography.

At Shadowlands Photography, she hopes for a chance to learn more about lighting and the “business side” of running a photography company. Erin – may you realize just how powerful you are. Let your light shine!

Blissfully in Love = Jon + Angie

Jon and Angie love baseball...be it the Tincaps or the Cubs.  So, it was only fitting that the beautiful bride have adorable Cubs garters!

The wedding took place at the beautiful and quaint Saint Aloysius Catholic Church in Yoder, Indiana and the reception was at The Hayloft in Hoagland, Indiana.

He Proposed on Lake Wawasee!

The 4th of July holiday offers all kinds of memories to Americans...sparklers, fireworks, summer, burgers on the grill, mosquitoes...and the list goes on.  But, for Mike and Lisa, July 4th will be forever extra-special and a very important date to remember.

When Mike and Lisa launched out on a pontoon boat ride from his parents' cottage on Lake Wawasee, Lisa had no idea what was in store for her on the other side of the lake.  Little did she know that her family had come in from across the country to surprise her.  And why?  What was the big surprise?  During the boat ride Mike proposed to Lisa!!!!  (And, of course...she said YES!).  And, I had the honor of being in on the whole surprise, documenting all of the unforgettable moments.

Field of Black-Eyed Susans: Family Portrait

Shadowlands Photography is proud to be a supporter of a variety of social justice and community organizations in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Whether it's through donating our time to groups directly such as Healthier Moms & Babies or NILMDTS or through donating items for silent auctions to groups such as The Salvation Army...or in the case of this particular session winner...the 1st Annual Batters & Bidders Picnic Auction in 2010, which benefitted the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne.

Monica and her sweet family have a wonderful farm property which had a fully-bloomed black-eyed susan field of flowers in which for us to do their outdoor family portrait session.  And, even though it was one of those miserable one hundred and seven degree days, we had lots of fun creating these shots.

What a beautiful family!
